Food security, as defined by the United Nations' Committee on World Food Security, is the condition in which all people, at all times, have physical, social and economic access to sufficient safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life.
The children at Star Campus Junior School now have a wonderful new school building, sweaters, shoes and some books to help them learn, but they need a more nutritious diet to help fuel their learning. Porridge and posho does not provide adequate protein, and there is a need for fresh fruit and vegetables for the children.
For many students at Cheery Children Education Centre, the lunchtime meal served at school may be the only meal the child gets for the day.
Hunger is painful. Children can not learn when they're hungry.
Mother Teresa said, "If you can't feed 100 people, then just feed one."
Your regular monthly contribution can give these kids the food security they need and provide not only the current diet, but the addition of meat and fresh fruit.
Your donation will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions. Without food, children can't learn. Give now to help relieve their hunger.
